About us

we're citizens, not subjects

Have you ever asked yourself:

  • Am I afraid of guns?

  • How do I start my training?

  • Where do I get tactical training?

  • What is the best gun for me?

  • How do I become a better shooter?

If so, you've come to the right place.

H.E.A.T Defensive Firearms Training is dedicated to teaching firearm skills to civilians.  We aim to improve your confidence and proficiency as a shooter.

There are more first-time gun owners in the U.S. than ever before.  New and experienced shooters need to train regularly and sharpen their self-defense tactics.  Unlike other groups that offer super "high speed" tactical training with tons of gear required, we made our courses for the everyday civilian.

We believe every American should be a proficient shooter that is capable of responsibly exercising their rights.

Our Story

H.E.A.T Defensive Firearms Training was founded as a training hub for civilian shooters.  Knowing where to go for firearms training can be a confusing and intimidating experience.  We want to be the medium between your anxiety and desire to learn about firearms.  We understand the common barriers and designed our courses to boost your confidence, improve your skills, and conquer your fear.  We want to ensure that you feel comfortable practicing among other experienced and amateur shooters.

Our founder, Mike, joined the Navy after college.  He was attached to a Marine Corps division to work as a Hospital Corpsman.  Mike was exposed to firearms during that time and carried that training into his civilian life.  After enrolling in multiple pistol courses, Mike noticed many practical errors made by the instructors.  At H.E.A.T Defensive, we believe that everything we teach should pass the test of practicality.  Mike used his military and civilian experience as a sharpshooter to create immersive and fun firearm training courses.  Mike wants to share his knowledge with as many people as possible so that people can learn how to responsibly exercise their rights.
