FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Is this a License To Carry Course?

A: No. As of September 1st, 2021, Texas citizens will no longer need to have a License To Carry carry their firearm. If you are still interested in getting your LTC and you're a new shooter, this is the course you should take before your LTC course.  The LTC course is NOT for new shooters. New shooters cannot pass the shooting test required for the LTC and often get kicked off the range for safety violations. We will teach you the how to shoot. And with some practice, you'll be ready for the LTC shooting test.

Q: What's included with this offer?

A: The 4-5 hour class instruction and 1-hour range session are included with this offer. You will need 50 rounds of ammunition per shooter.  You can buy ammo on-site at the range, or get some from your local stores.  Note: Make sure it's brass case target ammo (Not steel or aluminum)

Q: Do I need to have a gun to take this course?

A: No, there are firearms available for rent at the shooting range. We have several sizes of handguns to shoot for free. There's also ammunition available as well.

Q: I'm a beginner. Is this the right class for me?

A: Absolutely. This class is perfect for new beginners or skilled amateurs who want to learn or relearn the fundamentals of shooting.

Q: Where is the location of this course?

A: The shooting range is located on Katy Freeway between Memorial City and the Energy Corridor.

Q: How much does the class cost?

A: Please find the price on this page. We have a lower price than our competitors for a 4-hour course.

Q: What equipment do I need to participate in this course?

A:  Hearing protection will be provided by the range. You can buy ammo from the range or buy it from a local sporting goods store. If you're planning on renting a gun from the range, then you'll have to buy their ammo as well.

Q: Where can I find ammo?

A: You can find ammunition at your local sporting goods stores such as Academy, Dick's Sporting Goods, Bass Pro Shops, Carter's Country, etc.  Some gun ranges also allow ammo to be sold as retail.  Make sure to go to these stores as soon as they open.  If all else fails, you can buy ammo at the gun range.

ABOUT HEAT DEFENSIVE

Have you ever asked yourself:

  • "How do I prepare myself for a deadly force situtation?"

  • "How do I become a better shooter?"

  • "Where do I get handgun training?"

  • "What is the best gun for me?"

  • "What does constitutional carry mean for me?"

If so, you're ABSOLUTELY in the right place.

Our purpose is provide firearms training for the everyday civilian. Every law abiding Texan has the right to defend themselves. Carrying a handgun isn't just for the "super pro gun" community.  Concealed firearms are present on the bodies of Americans from all walks of life.

There are more first-time gun owners in the U.S. than ever before.  New and experienced shooters need to train regularly and sharpen their self-defense tactics.  We pray you never have to use these skills, but you should never be caught without them.

LIMITED SLOTS AVAILABLE!!

I took the Handgun First Steps class today. Michael is very knowledgeable and a good instructor. This class is a very good class for beginners or for someone with very little experience. He is patient with his students and works to make sure you have a good understanding of proper gun safety, stance & sighting your target. I now feel more confident about the use of handguns. The class exceeded my expectations! He deserves the 5 stars.

I had a good experience with Mike. he helped me feel comfortable with the gun and his training course was great! I am looking forward to have another class with him.

I really learned a lot from the training (never had gun in my hand before) - not only safety but also basic handling and shooting. I recommend the class to every beginner. I'm actually considering more classes hoping they will make me even more comfortable with guns. About the classes: they covered different kinds of guns, loading and safety handling of guns, some tips how to store and where to keep them at home, then we moved on to position, how to hold your gun correctly, bit about breathing and then how to focus on target. Everything to prepare you for last step- shooting at the range. Over there we tried different distances and techniques. I think the classes prepare you very well for your first time shooting/ or if you haven't done it in long time.

This is a great class for all. If you are an experienced shooter, you will learn how to correct any bad habits. Mike is a great instructor and I am looking forward to some more advanced classes. This is a great opportunity.
